New kind of beetle found! By CBC staff!

Fri, 25 Apr 2008 02:21:19 PDT
New kind of beetle found! By CBC staff! Staff on the state-owned CBC Newsworld, where, suspiciously like Fox News Channel’s O’Reilly Factor, “The Spin Stops Here”! (-- or is that just on their “Politics” program?) apparently discovered the new creature. They called it the “GREENHOUSE BEETLE”. Most other people, like the folks at the National Post, which features the little bugger on their front page today, call it the Mountain Pine Beetle. Labcoats call it Dendroctonus Ponderosae. Bu

Check out this new still from Zack & Miri Make A Porno, courtesy of News Askew... Holy crap, the Monroeville Zombies! Dude. That is erupting with win. That is Mount Winsuvius. Mount St. Helwins. I must own one of these jerseys. Please tell me these will be sold to the public. Simply phenomenal.

Retailers fail to click to new trends

Fri, 09 May 2008 19:06:11 PDT
The stagnation of online shopping in Australia was not due to our inferior broadband facilities, as has been suggested. Mr Bonanno said it was due to retailers deliberately refusing to help it grow, depriving the online environment of focus and money.

Interview: Laura Hale of FanHistory.com

Sat, 10 May 2008 08:27:40 PDT
Introduction: I first discovered Fan History back in 2007 when long time Anime fan Steve Pearl passed away. To me Steve was a real hero in the anime scene, yet when I did a search I found very little about his contribution to the field. So I was very happy to find his entry at fanhistory.com. The website is still in an early phase yet they have a wealth of information on fandom. As pulisher of fanboy.com I encourage everyone to contribute to helping this amazing resource grow. And without fur

Research show girls more prone to injury playing sports

Fri, 09 May 2008 07:14:19 PDT
This casualty rate was not due to some random spike. It is part of a national trend in the wake of Title IX and the explosion of sports participation among girls and young women. From travel teams up through some of the signature programs in women’s college sports, women are suffering injuries that take them off the field for weeks

Dubai World/Limitless Sovereign Wealth Fund bids for Minerva

Sat, 10 May 2008 08:16:20 PDT
Limitless, an arm of Dubai World SWF admits takeover plans for Minerva, at low price, putting more of the debt pool beyond the reach of Western private Central Bank cartels, enraging them and the politicians who will lose power, if this trend continues. Worst of all, Dubai World SWF could join with other SWFs to issue competing currency.

CBC: And now for an honest middle o’ the road perspective… (no—just kidding!)

Wed, 30 Apr 2008 13:58:19 PDT
CBC: And now for an honest middle o’ the road perspective… (no—just kidding!) News item: dozens of ducks land in an oil sands “tailings” pond in Alberta which is usually protected by bird-scaring techniques to keep the birds away; and are poisoned, and die. It’s a tragedy. Clearly. The company is sad, the government is sad, we’re all sad. No doubt one or two heads will roll, and probably, people will be more careful in the future. We all hope so. And none of us need to be lectured about
